Vote By Mail
If you are a qualified and registered voter in Atlantic County, you may apply to Vote By Mail by sending the County Clerk an official “Vote By Mail Ballot Application”. This application must be received by the County Clerk no later than 7 days prior to the date of the election in which you wish to vote. Your request should be on an official Vote By Mail Application. If you fail to meet the 7 day deadline, you may come to the County Clerk’s Office in person during the 7 day period prior to the election (until 3:00 PM the day before the election) to complete an application and receive a ballot.
Any Voter May Apply for a Mail-In Ballot By Authorized Messenger
The messenger shall be a family member or a registered voter in Atlantic County and the voter must designate, sign, and date the Messenger Designee Section of the Application (section 12). The Messenger (1) cannot be a candidate in the election for which the voter is requesting a Mail-In Ballot and (2) cannot serve as a Messenger for more than TEN (10) qualified voters per election and (3) the Messenger must sign the application in person and present official photo identification to the County Clerk or the County Clerk designee.
Voters now have the option of automatically receiving a Mail-In Ballot for the remainder of any calendar year (option “A” on the application) and they also have the option of automatically receiving a Mail-In Ballot for each General Election (option “B”). If the voter no longer desires this option, the voter must contact the Atlantic County Clerk’s Office in writing to cancel that service.
Military Service and Overseas Voters
Voting is available to Military personnel, their dependents and patients in veterans’ hospitals, and those affiliated with the U.S. military services. There is a special status box on the Vote By Mail Application for this. Military and Overseas voters can receive additional information about their voting privileges by emailing the Clerk’s Office through the website: www.atlanticcountyclerk.org.

On August 12, 2008, Governor Jon Corzine signed legislation expanding the methods of transmitting ballots used by Military and Overseas Voters.
New Jersey law formerly allowed for votes to be transmitted only by fax.
The law has been revised to include any other form of electronic communication, including email.
Information and forms regarding overseas voter registration and absentee ballots are available from the Federal Voting Assistance Program at http://fvap.gov/.
The Atlantic County registered voters may print a Military or Overseas absentee ballot application, fill it out and it mail to The Atlantic County Clerk’s Office, 5901 Main Street, Mays Landing NJ 08330.
Applications as well as any questions may also be emailed to: email@example.com American citizens who are not registered to vote may also apply at those addresses.
When you apply for an absentee ballot you may indicate whether you wish to have the ballot mailed to you, emailed to you, or faxed to you. You will then receive instructions on how to complete and return your voted ballot.
As a service to the public, the Election Division maintains Primary and General Election results as well as campaign expenditure reports. This information is public record and may be examined in the Mays Landing Office or copies may be purchased.
